The Curriculum

Similar to last year, each day will include presentations from practitioners, academics, and experts in key areas of cultural engagement.

Each presentation is designed to help participants consider how Christians and Churches can Out-purpose, Out-relate and Out-last within a given sphere of influence.

Presentations include areas such as: Politics, Work and Business, the Arts, Media, Education, Technology (AI).

The Kategoria conference will take place onsite at the Lachlan Macquarie Institute's beautiful campus located in Murrumbateman, NSW (30 mins outside Canberra)

The facility is situated upon a 20 acre rural property, surrounded by farmland and within easy distance of some of the best local wineries and vineyards.

Our presenters will include professors from Australia’s top universities, Christian authors, public policy analysts, media specialists, and church and business leaders.

Daniel AndersonDirector: The Lachlan Macquarie Institute

Rev. Dr. Daniel Anderson is the Director (CEO) of The Lachlan Macquarie Institute (LMI) based in Canberra, Australia. LMI’s mission is to raise up an Australian network of wise Christian leaders for politics and culture who are biblically faithful, culturally intelligent, and positively engaged for the common good. Dan holds a PhD from Macquarie University exploring the philosophical ethics of forgiveness. He was a member of the Board of the Australian Fellowship of Evangelical Students (AFES) from 2003-2021 and served as its Chair from 2017-2021. Dan holds a B.A. (hons) from the ANU and a B.Div from Moore Theological College. Dan is married to Emma and they have two young children (Nat and Evie). Dan and Emma met while studying at the Australian National University through the Christian Union.

  • What is the cost of attending Kategoria?

    Ticket Cost: $390 per person (inc. Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner).

    Day Cost: $150 per person/per day (inc. Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner)

  • Who should attend Kategoria?

    Kategoria is designed for all Christians who are engaged or interested in cultural leadership. Previous programs had had a variety of applicants at different stages of life.

  • What is involved in the application process?

    After completing our online application, we will assess your application and call your referees.
    If your application is successful, we will respond with an acceptance email, a link to purchase a ticket, and a program information pack.

  • How will transport work?

    Each delegate is responsible for organising their own transport to/from Canberra.

    We will arrange a bus collection and drop for those who are flying to and from Canberra airport and the Murrumbateman town centre/the camp venue for those organising accommodation.

    There will also be a shuttle service between the Lachlan Macquarie Institute facility and the nearby town centre of Murrumbateman at the beginning and end of each day.

  • How will accommodation work?

    Accommodation is not included in the program. However, there is a nearby provider located just 2km from the venue offering reasonably priced, camp-style dormitory accommodation at $63 per person, per night. If you are interested in booking with this provider, please contact us.

    Alternatively, accommodation is also available in the local town of Murrumbateman at The Abode Hotel and The Murrumbateman Country Inn.
